Background and aim: In recent years, high-risk behaviors among adolescents
have grown significantly. In order to identify some of the psychological factors
associated with these behaviors, the present study was designed and implemented.
The main objective of the present research is to determine the contribution of
cognitive emotion regulation components to high-risk behaviors.
Methodology: The type of study and the method of investigation are correlation
and multiple regressions. The statistical population of the study is 209,144 high
school girl students in Tehran. A sample of 422 people was selected by multistage
cluster sampling method and Critical Settlement Questionnaire distributed among
Zadeh Mohammadi and Ahmad Abadi adolescents.
Findings: Data analysis with multiple regression method showed that the
overall model and the combination of predictor variables explained 13% of the
variance of risky behaviors. In the general model, emotional adjustment cognitive
dimensions were a significant predictor of high-risk behaviors. The negative
cognitive adjustment beta coefficient was higher than the positive cognitive
adjustment coefficient. In terms of dimensions, blame and disaster, negative
cognitive regression, and the dimensions of positive re-focus and acceptance of
positive cognitive regulation, also predicted significant risk factors for female
adolescents (high school students).
Results: The results of this study showed that there is a significant relationship
between cognitive-emotional regulation and risk-orientation.
